empty inside Die Premiere unseres neuen Projekts E L Y S I U M vergangenes Wochenende war „cool” – im sprichwörtlichen Sinn – und hat Spass gemacht. Wir haben zahlreiche Feedbacks zu unserem Konzept und zu den LEANDRINKS erhalten. Unsere selbstgemachten Kaltauszüge und Essenzen sind ein ästhetisches Geschmackserlebnis und einmalig in Zürich. Besonders beliebt waren Ananassalbei, Pacific und Dirtybeach. Auch die Einrichtung die wir komplett selbst gestaltet haben, wurde als wirklich „cool” und nicht „kühl” wahrgenommen. An der frischen und unverbrauchten Atmosphäre war abzulesen, dass um sich zu amüsieren und relaxen zu können, Alkohol nicht unbedingt nötig ist. Dieses sonnige Wochenende geht es weiter Do / Fr / Sa 18 – 23 Uhr. Weitere infos unten.

Mit unserer vorausgegangenen Ausstellung O F F S P A C E ist es gelungen, den Bezug zwischen TAGS und dem neuen Materialismus sichtbar zu machen.

Gelegentlich wird die Prunk und Pracht-Homogenität der absolutistischen inneren Kreise mit warmem Blut aufgefrischt. In den familiär-gönnerhaften Schenkkreis aufgenommen wird aber nur, wer heuchelt, keine eigene Meinung hat und sich brav in den safe_space einfügt. Die nostalgisch–folkloristische Haltung vieler Kulturschaffender, nährt eine Politik der Ausgrenzung und Unterdrückung. Hoch zu Ross und wohlgenährt, manövrieren sie hochtrabend im Kreisverkehr symbiotisch mit den wichtigtuerischen Influenzern, aufgeblasenen Kulturinstitutionen und “social justice warrior” Journalisten, welche – auf lokales und horizontales Kulturschaffen eingestellt, nur pseudokritische und ganz leicht ironisch gewürzte Kunst goutieren. Schliesslich gehört eine dezidiert sozialkritische Haltung und der dazugehörige künstl”er”ische (Berliner Slang – Anm. d. Red.) politisch korrekte Output zur Betriebsroutine. empty inside

So wird das grosse Feld gut eingesessenen neoliberalen Kulturverkäufern überlassen wodurch heute jede Veränderung unmöglich erscheint. Eine kulturelle Gegenbewegung bedarf nicht nur einer weitreichenden Strategie, sondern auch einer rational-spekulativen Gegenerzählung.

Mit dem neuen Konzept unserer  E L Y S I U M  Bar stellen wir ein Pilot Projekt vor: Leitungswasser+. Im August servieren wir für zwei Wochenenden Zürcher Leitungswasser angereichert mit reinen, anregenden Substanzen. Alle Drinks sind Selbstgemacht. In Liegestühlen entspannen und eingebettet in Vaporwave und Mallsoft kann man diese reinen Essenzen geniessen und Träumen.

Die Öffnungszeiten sind: Do / Fr / Sa, ab 19 – 23 Uhr. Komm uns besuchen und probiere unsere hauseigenen LEANDRINKS.⛓🌿💦

Die Getränkekarte bietet eine Auswahl an Kaltauszügen, natürlichen Essenzen oder darfs eine Spur Chemie sein. So gut wie alle LEANDRINKS ausser drei, sind zucker- und kalorienfrei, sowie frei von künstlichen Süss- und Farbstoffen. Auf natürlicher Basis hergestellt, sind sie beinahe kosher, halal – 100% vegan, Gluten – und Alkoholfrei. Eine Radikale Vereinfachung, die gut tut. Uns ist es wichtig lange Transportwege und möglichst viele Ketten der Abhängigkeit zu sprengen. Unser Motto ist: Appropriate technology.

RESOLUTION is the last transformation of the O F F S P A C E exhibition. Be there on Friday 9/25 2015, it starts 19h !

Our exhibition O F F S P A C E – Speculative tracing is closing soon. We had fantastic press, amongst others from Tagi and NZZ. The critique was substantial but also nice and important. We where really happy the people picked up on this experimental exhibition. Now you have the chance to discover the future room RESOLUTION, witch we prepared for you to complete the show. It shows a speculative view into the future a future without TAGS maybe? So its not concrete and it doesn’t want to make a point. But you can thake a stroll and leave your footprints in the future. If that isn’t amazing i don’t know what is. Anyway, there also will be retro-futuristic sound (mallsoft/vaporwave) played by our dear dj ipod and some experimental drinks tonight. Don’t miss this party and leave some traces behind you in the past and in the presence and as you step into the future O F F S P A C E.

Mode kommt von der Strasse
Die Moschino Kollektion S/S 2016 zeigt wieder einmal, dass die stärkste Quelle der Inspiration von der Strasse kommt. Aber von wo kommen diese TAGS? Was sind Graffitis überhaupt? Punks mit Piratenseele von der Strasse? Illegal und doch präsent im Kommerz. Wilde Blumen können nicht kommerzialisiert werden. So sehe ich TAGS. Starkart Exhibitions widmet mit der Ausstellung O F F S P A C E den wilden TAGS. Eine poetische Annäherung.

Wir brauchen keine gemeinsame Denkrichtung, keine gemeinsame Idee, nur eine Abwendung vom postmodernen Denken. Neuer Materialismus ist “neu”, weil es ein Versuch ist ohne ausreichende Vorbereitung im Jetzt, einen Sprung in die Zukunft zu wagen. Aus der Sicht der Gegenwart ist sie nicht erkennbar. Es ist eine Bewegung, hin zu einer neuen, unbekannten Zukunft.

Wieso sammeln wir am Strand eigentlich Muscheln und nicht Abfall?

It was a fantastic first opening of the O F F S P A C E show on a warm Zurich summer night, with lots of new and familiar faces! We enjoyed to answer all the questions about TAGS and vandalism. And we are also very proud that this show opened so many minds. Wile we’re talking about it…. the second opening is on September 11. The topic then is the commercialisation of tags and graffiti. There will be a public guided tour through the exhibition, don’t miss it! See you all very soon again!

Sie sind anonym. Sie sind viral. Ohne Rücksicht wird jede Oberfläche im urbanen Raum verunstaltet. In einer sinnentleerten postmodernen Zeit zerstören TAGS das saubere Image der Stadt. Ein Sinnbild dafür, wie sich unsere Kultur unaufhaltsam und erratisch ausbreitet. Gleichzeitig befindet sich die kritische Kunst in einer offensichtlichen Krise: sie hält nicht was sie verspricht. Könnten TAGS aus dieser Situation einen Ausweg bieten?

STARKART versucht mit der Ausstellung „OFFSPACE – Spekulative Spurensuche“, mögliche Antworten auf diese Fragen zu finden. Sie beleuchtet den Kreislauf die jede (Sub)kultur früher oder später durchläuft: Entstehung, Vermarktung und Auflösung. Von TAGS zu #hashtags.

Die Ausstellung ermöglicht in erster Linie eine neue Sichtweise auf TAGS aber auch auf zeitgenössische Kunst und Kultur. Um in unserem digital beschleunigten Zeitalter sinnvolle Kunst zu entwerfen zu können, die der inneren kulturellen Aushöhlung entgegenwirkt, muss man – statt sich in der immer leereren Selbstreflektionsschleife des Korrelationismus zu drehen….SPEKULATIV sein!

Jugendworkshop, öffentliche Führung und Filmscreening
Die erste Vernissage am 28. August 2015 präsentiert Teil 1 ENTSTEHUNG. 
Am 5. September, in der langen Nacht der Museen, gibts ein Filmscreening zum Thema.
 Am 11. September, wird Teil 2 VERMARKTUNG eröffnet. Dazu gibts eine öffentliche Führung durch die Ausstellung, durchgeführt von Catherine Eisendle, als auch eine Filmvorführung. Das Finale ist Teil 3 AUFLÖSUNG.

In Zusammenarbeit mit dem Verein Home of Arts ein zweitägiger Workshop für Jugendliche ab 12 Jahren unter dem Motto „Tag und Throw-Ups“ angeboten. Workshop Samstag und Sonntag, 19. und 20. September 2015. Jeweils 13 Uhr bis 16 Uhr.

TAGS in O F F S P A C E

They are anonymous.They are viral. They deface any surface in urban areas regardless. In a meaningless postmodern time TAGS destroy the neat picture of the city. A symbol of how inexorably and erratic our culture is spreading across the globe. At the same time the critical art is in a apparent crisis: it does not deliver what it promises. Could TAGS offer a way out of this situation?

STARKART wants to find possible answers to these questions with the exhibition” Offspace – Speculative Tracing”. It highlights the cycle which every (sub)culture, sooner or later is going thru: creation, marketing and resolution. From TAGS to #hashtags.

The exhibition enables a new way of looking at TAGS and contemporary art as well.
To be able to create meaningful art in our highly commercialized and digital accelerated era – rather than rotate in the never ending void of the self-reflection loop… means to be SPECULATIVE!

Workshop, public tours and movie screening
The first opening on August 28, presents Part1 “CREATION”. On September 5. the Long Night of Museums, a film screening, plus a special event are planned. On September 11., Part2 “MARKETING” a second opening is celebrated. At this time a public tour is conducted by Catherine Eisendle through the exhibition and film screening will. On the 25. September, Part3 “DISINTEGRATION”, is at the same time the end of of the exhibition.
In collaboration with the Association of Arts Home, (HOA), a two-day workshop for young people aged 12 years is offered under the slogan “TAGS and THROW UPS”. Saturday and Sunday 19. and 20. September 2015 both 13 clock to 16 clock.

While often in disagreement over basic philosophical issues, the speculative realist thinkers have a shared resistance to philosophies of human finitude inspired by the tradition of Immanuel Kant. We want to overcome correlationism and philosophies of access. Philosophies of access are any of those philosophies which privilege the human being over other entities. Both ideas represent forms of anthropocentrism.

Since its first appearance at a London colloquium in 2007, the Speculative Realism movement has taken continental philosophy by storm. Opposing the formerly ubiquitous modern dogma that philosophy can speak only of the human-world relation rather than the world itself, speculative realism defends the autonomy of the world from human access, but in a spirit of imaginative audacity.

Speculative Realism Pathfinder

Speculative Realism ist eine vorläufige Sammelbezeichung für eine sehr junge philosophische Bewegung, die versucht, unter post-metaphysischen Vorzeichen Metaphysik und Ontologie auf radikale Weise neu zu denken. Was die ansonsten denkbar heterogene Denkströmung verbindet, ist die Ablehnung eines “Korrelationismus” Quentin Meillassoux, verstanden als die Idee, dass Denken und Sein, Subjekt und Objekt, Ich und Welt nur aus einem Verhältnis, in dem sie zueinander stehen, gedacht werden können. Das apriori einer solchen Korrelation bestimmt – so die These – das gesamte neuzeitliche Denken von Kant bis zum Poststrukturalismus auf fatale Weise, denn es verhindert ein Denken des “Realen”, der “Präsenz” jenseits der Vermittlung (etwa durch Denken, Sprache, Kultur). Als Gegenentwurf u.a. zum Lingustic Turn werden eine Object-Oriented Philosophy Graham Harman und eine neue Form des Materialismus entwickelt, die es erlauben sollen, “die Realität selbst”, das noumenale Objekt in seiner Wirksamkeit neu zu denken. Dies geschieht im kritischen wie radikalisierenden Anschluss an prominente Denker der Philosophiegeschichte wie Hume oder Heidegger. Was dadurch besser als mit der Tradition in den Blick kommen soll, sind aktuelle Probleme wie ökologische und ökonomische Krisen ebenso wie neuere Entwicklungen in den Wissenschaften (etwa in den Neurowissenschaften und in der Physik).
