STF Moscato
*1973 Marseille
The Marseille based artist Stéphane Moscato, tirelessly walks the streets, on the watchout for the foundation material for his artworks. He peels off whole sections of pasted posters, which he then fixes onto canvas in his studio. Then he begins a creative dialogue, with the inspiration of a random word, a part of a face, or even just a colour that stands out. The artist uses stencils, but refuses the reproducible character of the technique. Hence he composes his works, which are unique (never reproduced) and polysemiotic. He lets himself be guided by the meaning which emerges from these fragments of messages found in the streets.
Strongly inspired by the punk rock culture, he also makes a social and political comment in his works. An interesting aesthetic balance emerges, from the way he adapts classical mythology and puts it in a new narration.
